IGSSA is comprised of 10 Independent Girls’ Schools in South Australia – Concordia, Immanuel, Pembroke, Pulteney, St Peters Girls, Scotch, Seymour, Walford, Westminster and Wilderness.
Australian rules football (AFL), was officially added to the list of IGSSA Sports in 2017. Immanuel College were successful in winning both the Middle and Senior competitions in our inaugural season
The IGSSA Athletics carnival is held on the last Wednesday of Term 3 each year. Taking place at Adelaide's Santos Stadium, Mile End, the event is always a highlight of the IGSSA Sporting year with many top athletes taking part
Badminton is one of the 5 weekly IGSSA Winter Sports. Matches are held at school venues as well as the home of Badminton SA at Lockleys. Our Badminton competition is very strong currently
Basketball is one of our biggest Summer sports. The Senior A, Senior B, Middle A and Middle B grades are played on Wednesday afternoons. C grade in both Seniors and Middles is played on Monday afternoons.
IGSSA is proud to add cricket to its offerings from Term 4, 2021. With growing interest in cricket, IGSSA has the strength to administer a cricket program to a healthy number of competitors in the summer months.
With a rich history in the IGSSA program, Hockey remains one of the 5 IGSSA Winter Sports. Played at multiple top-quality turf pitches around Adelaide, the IGSSA Shields in A and B grade are always hotly contested.
Netball has remained the largest participation IGSSA Sport for several years. In 2020 alone, 175 teams were entered across our 10 IGSSA Schools. Both School venues and the Anzac Highway courts are used by IGSSA
IGSSA have traditionally offered Soccer for Senior A, Senior B, Senior C, Middle A, MIddle B and MIddle C grades. From 2021, the grades are being renamed to Premier League, Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3
As of 2021 IGSSA Softball will only be played in Term 1. This will mean for a shorter, yet more exciting season as teams battle it out for the Senior A and Senior B IGSSA Shields. A C grade comp is on offer also.
The IGSSA Swimming carnival is held on the Tuesday after the Adelaide Cup long weekend each year. Taking place at the South Australian Aquatic Centre, the event is always a highlight of the IGSSA Sporting year.
Since 2015 the top grades of IGSSA Tennis have been played on a Monday night. Premier League is the former Senior A, and Premier League Reserves the former Senior B. All other grades play on Saturday mornings.
Volleyball is IGSSA's biggest participation Summer Sport. Played at IGSSA School venues on Saturday mornings, our Volleyball competition is extremely strong, with our Shields very tough to win.
